A week of multicultural events is in full swing at Halifax West to celebrate the most diverse student body in the region.

Last night, the high-school students performed a global variety show showcasing dancing, dress, music and drama from different countries.

Throughout the week, students who are new to Canada are sharing stories about their new lives and their homelands. Students are attending workshops featuring African drumming and talks by guest speakers on Islam, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth. They're learning how to belly dance and having mehndi (henna skin decoration) applications. The cafeteria is even cooking up healthy ethnic dishes all week.
